Today is the last day of the Download N Go/Unit Study Adventures CD Closeout sale! There are some great deals to be had!
I love spring and summer because it means yard sale time is here! And that means bargains to be had!
We just love yard sales here. We have found some great deals at yard sales. On the other hand we have also found some junk! Some days you hit the jackpot and some days you don’t!
If you have been reading my blog for any length of time also know that we also love Legos! When you combine yard sales with Legos it is bound to be a great day!
A few weeks ago the boys and I hit the jackpot on some Legos! There were several sets all thrown in this huge tote. I asked the lady how much she wanted for them, she said $5. We started looking through them. They were all Aqua Raiders sets. Justin was not sure he wanted them. He is particular about what Legos he has. I told the boys to look through and see if there was anything they wanted. I knew Kaden would want one or two of them.
We were trying to decide which ones we wanted when the lady came up and told us they were $5 for the entire box (5 sets) not $5 each! I told her we would take them! She even threw in the tote! The tote alone was worth $5!
When I came home I decided to look up the prices on these sets. To buy them new they totaled over $450!
All the pieces and directions were in the sets! For the record Justin loved them after he got them home!
Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a fantastic day! I am popping on to let you know that I will be taking a break from my blog until Tuesday.
Today I am getting ready for our annual Memorial Day weekend yard sale that will be held tomorrow. Since it is Memorial Day weekend, I decided to take a little vacation from my blog to catch up and get some things done here.
Have a great Memorial Day and I’ll see you on Tuesday!

Good Morning and welcome to this week’s edition of Lego Creation Thursday! We are so glad you stopped by for a visit!
This week Kaden is sharing his water building! He made this last night! ! Can you see those white tubes at the bottom right. That is where the water comes in. It flows through the tube and is stored in large tanks inside of the building and then out to homes in the town.
This week Justin is sharing….another building! Not another architecture building. Rather one from his imagination!
He calls this Justin’s building of the future! I’m not sure if this is a building he will live in or perhaps it will be a famous building and be called The Justin you know the way Donald Trump is called The Donald? You never know, right?
What Lego creations have your kid’s come up with this week? Please join us! We would love to see their creations! You can link up below using Mr. Linky! I would appreciate it if you would link this post in your post or share our Lego Creation Thursday button in your post. Be sure to join us each week!

Lukas Saturn
Were we looking for a new kitty……ummmm….no…although if you ask the boys they will give you a resounding YES! They desperately wanted Jupiter to get pregnant and have kittens. Jupiter was just recently spayed so that will not be happening anytime soon and this little guy will be paying a visit to the vet to be neutered as soon as he is old enough!
As you may or may not know we already have Jupiter, who turned six this year along with Kaden.
You might be wondering (or not) how Lukas (aka Luke) came to join our family. On Saturday just as the boys and I were finishing up lunch we heard this meowing and I knew it was from a kitten. We have catbirds here that sound so much like a kitten mewing and have fooled me several times but this time I knew it was a kitten. It was loud and close!
We ran outside and Justin saw him under the neighbors truck that was parked on the street. We tried to catch him and he ran across the street to the other neighbors. You could tell he was lost and lonely. I would meow at him and he would come just out of my reach. Finally with the help of the neighbor we cornered him and I caught him.
I have an extreme amount of patience for catching kittens, having been a hobby of mine growing up on my grandpop’s farm where there were lots and lots of kittens.
Anyway, I actually thought this kitten belonged to our neighbor as they had a litter but she was not missing any and they did not have any orange colored ones and this little guy was younger then their kittens.
Of course we could not leave him out there all alone. I was worried he would go back in the street and end up getting hit by a car. So he came home with us until we could decide what to do with him. I went and did some laundry and came back into the living room and the boys had named him! I knew that was not a good sign. At. All. So within 2 hours Justin and Kaden had decided he was a new family member.
He is tiny, probably between 2-3 months and oh so cute. Funny thing is that neither Larry nor I care for orange cats, we have always preferred white, black or grey. But this little guy is adorable! He was all litter trained by the end of Saturday night and fits right in! He is so funny! I had forgotten how funny little kittens can be! Jupiter was a bit older when we got her and we missed out on that fun kitten stage!
He is named Lukas Saturn and called Luke for Luke Skywalker (which Kaden picked out) and Saturn for…well….because all of our pets seem to need to be named after a planet! I’m guessing you can guess who chose Saturn. At first they were thinking Little Orange and finally came up with Luke (they thought though that Lukas sounded better with Saturn then Luke!)
Jupiter is very put out and has spent her days since Saturday busily hissing and growling! (we have given her some extra love and attention) Luke discovered her yesterday and has been following her around. I think he is thinking she is his mother. Jupiter has heartily disagreed with his assessment of her! Although she is not happy, she spent a lot of time yesterday checking him out when he was not looking!
Luke is very taken with Kaden and vice versa! He has been sleeping with Kaden at night and spends time jumping out at us and playing with anything that moves! He has quickly embedded himself into our home and hearts!
In my life this week…
Well I did not get the boys room finished last week as I thought I would, but I did make progress! So the work in there continues! My aunt is having her annual yard sale on Saturday (if it does not rain) so I will be doing some additional decluttering and clearing out and boxing up! I am happy to report that both boys are finally better from their allergies, coughs and colds!
In our homeschool this week…
Another week of getting in the basics. Although we decided to extend our Chocolate Challenge unit for another week (into this week as well) and have been really enjoying this unit! We have learned so much and spent a lot of time learning about Milton Hershey’s life!
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
We had a fairly busy week what with our church dinner on Tuesday and then celebrating our anniversary on Thursday with a night out. Friday we ran errands and did a bit of shopping and Saturday the boys and I went to a couple of yard sales and the post office.
My favorite thing this week was…
Celebrating our anniversary! Larry did bring me a dozen beautiful white roses and I gave him a card. We kept it low-key. I am just happy to be able to celebrate 27 years with my guy!
What’s working/not working for us…
We have nothing in this area. Everything is still working well for us!
Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…
We school year round. So school never really stops for us. Are you year rounders? Or do you take a summer break? If you break in the summer what do you do with your time off?
A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
a few pictures of my roses. I just love them!

Recently I came across W.A.L.K. an organization that helps to send children in Liberia to school through a sponsorship program. For as little as $25 a year a child (some children are a little more as was our case for the child we are sponsoring) can be sponsored. (school tuition)
We have had child sponsorship on our hearts for sometime but the timing just has not been right. When I found the WALK organization I knew this was the I knew that this was a fit for our family.
Justin and Kaden are required to save a portion of their allowance/chore money. A percentage of their money has to go towards giving in some way either giving to our local church or some other organization where there is a need.
When I told them about WALK and sponsoring a child they immediately (without any prompting from me or Larry) wanted to donate the money in their giving jars to sponsor a child.
We will be able to pray for, write letters and send pictures to our sponsor child and in return get pictures, updates and letters. This is a great lesson and a blessing for our family in reaching out and seeing that even a small amount of money ($50 a year in our case) can go a long way to help a child across the world be able to attend school and receive an education!
Imagine $50 a YEAR! Such a small amount. We can easily spend that on a meal or two out!
Here is the little boy we are sponsoring. His name is Success. The boys are excited to send their first letter off to him!
Success
Yesterday as many of you know we celebrated our 27th anniversary. My mom had called Wednesday night to see if we wanted to go to the Phillies game with them. They had two extra tickets that had been given to them. I told her no we could not get a sitter on such short notice.
Yesterday morning she called back and said that dad was not feeling well and would we like all four tickets!
So we spent the evening watching the Philadelphia Phillies play the Colorado Rockies at Citizens Bank Park! This was the first time Larry and I have been to a Phillies game in many years! (probably at least 20) and we had never been to the new ball park!
What a fun night! We even had VIP parking! We were in the Hall of Hero’s section and had great seats! The park is really nice and we enjoyed looking at all the baseball memorabilia.
Everyone who attended the game received a Phillies hat! What fun!
Justin took his baseball glove in hopes of catching a ball. He wore that glove the entire night! It did end up raining pretty heavily but we were sitting under the overhang and stayed dry for the entire game.
Sadly the Phillies lost but we had a fantastic time! Thanks Dad and Mom for a fun night out!
The Philly Phanatic!
on the big screen!
across the park
taking off the tarp
the school kids that sang the National Anthem! They did a great job!
Kaden wanted to see the Liberty Bell! Here is the neon version!
Happy Boys!
Kaden wore his ball cap for about 10 minutes!
Point of No Return: An American boy and a warlord's engaged daughter have disappeared-together-in an Eastern European border country. Only one man can find them in time to prevent an international meltdown-Chet Stryker. But Chet is taken aback when he realizes the boy is the nephew of Mae Lund, Chet's former flame. When Mae insists on rescuing her relative herself, Chet knows he has to protect her from the enemy on their trail. Yet can he protect himself from falling for Mae again?
Mission: Out of Control: Brody "Wick" Wickham is a former Green Beret turned security agent-with a 100 percent mission success rate. No way is his new assignment changing that. Even if it's protecting a diva American rock star while she's on tour in Europe. Except Veronica "Vonya" Wagner isn't just a beautiful celebrity used to having her way-she's the daughter of a U.S. Senator. And she's hiding a dangerous secret. When Wick discovers what's at stake, how far over the line will he go to keep them both alive?
Undercover Pursuit: The only way to get security agent Luke Dekker to a wedding? An undercover mission as groomsman. He'll bust the groom, a drug cartel heir, before anyone can say "I do." Then Luke can escape all this love and romance nonsense-and the too pretty bridesmaid/agent assigned as his "fiancée" for the weekend. Until Luke discovers that sweet, vulnerable Scarlett Hanson isn't his contact. Isn't an agent.
Isn't trained for the high-stakes mission now trapping them both. And worse, Luke's falling for her-which is not part of the assignment
Three heroes, all on missions of mercy, who discover that God not only saves us from evil, but from the darkness inside.
My Thoughts
Ok I admit it. I really have never cared for Harlequin books. I think I have read a total of let’s see? One in my lifetime! They just are not my cup of tea. I usually prefer something with more depth.
When opportunity came along to read these Love Inspired Suspense books by Susan Mae Warren I was intrigued. I have read some of Susan’s other books and I really enjoy her writing. I decided to give these a chance.
I was pleasantly surprised! I truly enjoyed them! The stories are fast-paced and I was quickly drawn in. Yes there is romance (good clean romance) and adventure and danger and humor. In each story the characters learn some Biblical lessons too. That part surprised me! I would recommend these for some fun and light reading!
To celebrate the series, Susan is giving away a Missions of Mercy Prize Pack worth over $200! One grand prize winner will receive: * A brand new FLIP HD Camera * The entire Missions of Mercy series Enter today by clicking one of the icons below. We both said “I do”. Wow has it been that long! Yes today is our anniversary! We have been married over a quarter of a century! That is such a long time!
I am the luckiest girl ever though to have such a wonderful husband as Larry is! He is such a wonderful husband, father and hard worker! He does so much for our family and I am thankful for him each and everyday. Not just on our anniversary!
Happy Anniversary Honey!
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres
