It’s party time! Pizza Party that is! Do your kids like pizza? Would they like to learn more about pizza? Even make a pizza? Then the new Download N Go Pizza Party unit might be just what you are looking for! It is fabulous! This is one jam packed (or should I say pizza packed!) study! There are 112 pages included in this study it is filled with fun!
Want to learn about pizza? It’s in there. How about a little geography? It’s in there! What about meeting an explorer, composer and an artist. You guessed it! In there again!
Here is an overview of the week:
- Day 1: Pizza-What is It?
- Day 2 : The Story of Pizza
- Day 3: Types of Pizza
- Day 4: The Science of Pizza
- Day 5: Let’s Have A Pizza Party
Did we learn about pizza? We sure did! We learned the history of pizza, where it originated and how it came to America. We learned about Italy and it’s various cities. Justin and Kaden now would like to go to Venice and ride a gondola! (me too!) We learned about weather, what people in different parts of the world put on their pizza! We learned about different types of pizza and how and why they are different. We learned some really cool science using yeast.
This unit just touches on so many things. geography, science, music and art, astronomy, mapping skills and some applied math! You could extend this unit into at least two weeks. There are so many rabbit trails you could follow! Justin is now interested in learning more about The Silk Road. Yes we learned a bit about the spice route. Very cool stuff.
Each Download N Go unit has a weeks worth of lessons, including internet and video links, lapbooking components, book lists and notebooking pages.
Some Highlights from our week:
We made mini pizzas
The boys played pizza tic tac toe
We made a couple different pizzas but this was our most interesting!
Peanut butter and jelly pizza! Messy but yummy!
