Strawberries and gardening!

No there are not any fresh strawberries in NJ yet but soon! Last year my brother gave me 7 strawberry plants and I think now we have about 20.  Today I noticed our first two strawberry blossoms!  I’m excited!

031 Yesterday while I was out shopping I picked up some potting soil to start our seeds this week.  I guess I better get started on our garden. I want Larry to build me some more raised beds.  We have one that now is housing the strawberries.  I am going to put at least two on the other side of our house.

This year I want to grow:

  • tomatoes
  • lettuce
  • scallions
  • peppers
  • string beans
  • peas
  • lima beans
  • watermelon
  • pumpkins
  • squash
  • cucumbers
  • pickling cucumbers

and a few other things. We do raised beds (square foot garden style) and container gardening.
Do you have a garden? What do you plant?

We haven't started our garden this year. We've had a late winter, so we'll probably start ours in a week or so. Last year we planted carrots, peas, green beans, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, radishes, lettuce and onions. I also had a few herbs.
Good luck on your garden!!
Blessings,
Wendy

Container Gardening here.. that way we don't have to request permission while we rent. :) My lettuces are nearly ready for picking. We grew popcorn this year but due to our HEAT FREEZE HEAT they haven't done their thing yet. We're kinda bummed.

Fresh strawberries are the best! We have planted most of our garden and have a lot of the same stuff y'all planted.

Those berries will be delish! We are in full swing with spring gardening here in Texas, enjoying asparagus, onions, garlic, salad greens, beets, and the last of the cabbage and broccoli (winter crops for us). Next come the tomatoes, okra and squashes! Hope you have great success this year!

The strawberries sound wonderful! when i was little girl i had friend that had a big garden ful of strawbeeries. She would pay all the teens of the church to help pick them.
