For the love of flowers

Ahhhh spring! It has finally arrived! Don't you just love my pretty mountain pink?

The color just pops doesn't it? Even though it is called Mountain pink, mine is the most lovely shade of lavender: My favorite color!
Apparently there is someone else in our family who is attracted to their loveliness!

This is what I found the other day when I went out on our porch. A sand bucket filled with various leaves, weeds and a big clump of mountain pink. Can you guess who the culprit is?
Kaden! I asked him who pulled out my flowers. He readily admitted he did. I asked him why?
He said, mommy I just love flowers!!

The Simple Woman's Daybook~April 28th

Outside my window...it is HOT, HOT, HOT! Too hot for April. The cold front heading our way will bring cooler temperatures.

I am thinking...about the upcoming weekend. So many projects that need doing.

I am thankful for...air conditioning!

From the learning rooms...still working on those bones and our human body unit

From the kitchen...trying to decide if it will be orange chicken or chicken tacos for dinner.

I am wearing...shorts and a T-shirt and no shoes!

I am creating...a few more things for school today.

I am going...no where for the time being.

I am reading...Sister Chicks Go to Brit still plugging along.

I am hoping...to finish a list of things I have planned this week

I am hearing...the boys playing in their bedroom

Around the house...we are in the midst of potty training here. Today is day two!

One of my favorite things...gardening!

A few plans for the rest of the week...I am still decluttering and will be for sometime. This week though it is all about media. Books and videos to be specific. Hoping to get in a field trip in to the small zoo nearby. Maybe having family over for homemade pizza night on Fri.

I'm still here and some Earth Day fun

Yes I am still here. Gee I have not posted here since Monday. I have been just a bit overwhelmed with things I need to do. My house is very cluttered and I am trying to get on track with that. Sometimes I am overwhelmed to the point that I do nothing. Not good. So I am working in little areas at a time. I am not seeing huge changes yet, but hoping that by pushing on it will happen. Ever feel so overwhelmed you just don't know which way to start? That's where I am now. But I shall persevere!

Now for a little earth day fun. We celebrated our wonderful earth by making a few fun crafts and talking about ways we can protect our earth. The kids came up with some great ideas. We discussed recycling and why it was so important to do so. Justin is very earth conscious. We were at the part a few weeks back and Justin pulled a plastic bag and an old glove out of the lake all on his own. Took them to the trash receptacle.

We discussed not buying items that have lots of packaging and how having less packaging is good for the earth. Justin has told me several times in the past that he would like to go and collect trash along the road, at the beach where ever it is not supposed to be. I think we will spend some time doing this over the summer.

Here are a few fun things we did for Earth Day. I made the boys each a puzzle and laminated it. They had fun putting them together.

We played earth bingo!

We made coffee filter earths. This was so fun and easy! You just draw your deign on a coffee filter with a marker.....This is Justin's

and Kaden's

Then give it a couple sprays of water.....

as the water seeps all over the filter it creates these cool earths!

All of our earth day activities came from: DLTK's site.

From the learning rooms...continuing our study of the human body. This week it's all about bones!
From the kitchen...it's currently quiet in the kitchen. I am thinking of grilled cheese for supper
I am wearing...jeans and a neon green t-shirt and of course my comfy slippers
I am creating...some fun school items for Kaden
I am going...to visit my mom at the hospital
I am reading...Sister Chicks Go to Brit (love the sister chicks series)
I am hoping...to accomplish a lot of decluttering this week
I am hearing...to the boys watch an episode of the Magic School Bus~Human Body
Around the house...there are many things needing to be done, papers filed, papers thrown out, boxes to go through..can you tell I am in decluttering mode!
One of my favorite things...a hot cup of tea on a chilly day like today
A few plans for the rest of the week...school of course, a library run, an AC Moore run, hopefully planting some seeds in our garden.

Easter memories...

We had a very nice Easter filled with lots of fun and activities! Here are some highlights!

Our little community hosted a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. They served, eggs, pancakes, sausage, juice and milk. It was a fun morning!

The held a coloring contest. Justin and Kaden were very intent in their coloring.

Justin with the Easter Bunny. Kaden just would not go near "The Bunny".

The boys and their coloring pages. Justin is such a nut!

Easter egg dyeing!

The best part of dyeing eggs? mixing all the colors afterwards! Who knew???

Each year Larry's work holds an Easter Egg hunt. It rained this year. For the first time since we have been attending it was held indoors. I didn't take many pictures it was too hard since the kids were split up by age in different parts of the offices. Kaden did so well though taking directions from the ladies there. He is so timid, but he really wanted to hunt eggs!
after the egg hunt they had some games in the basement. One was an egg roll. The boys loved this!

The annual picture after the egg hunt. The rain stopped long enough for this picture. This is the first time Kaden has been in the picture. In years past he refused and was too frightened. I just told him you have to stand here and have your picture taken. It work!

I dressed the boys in last years Easter clothes to take a few pictures out in the yard. My favorite store to buy their clothes closed up in our mall. :( The Children's Place. Bummer.

Easter morning. As you can see we have a very generous Easter Bunny.

Justin looking over his goodies.

Kaden was beyond happy with his basket!

Easter Day. I found some new shirts for the boys. Looking at this picture I am surprised at how old Justin looks! Where is my baby?

egg hunt!
they had fun finding eggs in our yard.

and finally......Justin, Kaden and THE BUNNY! Yes we got Kaden to sit with The Bunny! This was not my favorite of Justin, but so good of Kaden I chose this one! I don't know why their shirts look so weird. Don't you just love that they are holding hands!

Easter Cards

This week we made Easter cards for our family and friends. I found the idea at The Crafty Crow.
They are thumb print bunnies and I think they came out so cute! We hope the recipients enjoy our homemade cards!
