We have the nicest neighbors!

Our neighbors on one side of us are really nice. They are a little older than us and have no children. A couple of weeks ago Larry was chatting with Roy. They were talking about the wood planter that Roy made for his yard. Roy had extra wood and asked Larry if we would like one. Sure! He told us he would build it sometime in the next few weeks. We thought that was awfully nice of him.

Saturday night, Larry was taking out the trash Roy mentioned he was going to build the planter on Sunday. They got to talking and Larry mentioned that we were going to go to Lowe's to buy wood to make a sandbox. Roy said he had enough wood to make a sandbox for the boys. (we had a one of those turtle sandboxes that the boys outgrew and the top broke so we had to throw it away last fall) Larry said no we could buy the wood and make one. Roy insisted that he would make it. So Saturday night they measured out the wood for the sandbox. When we returned from church on Sunday this is what was waiting for us......

The boy's new sandbox!

Daddy got sand on his way home from work today!

I have two very happy boys!

Thank you Mr. Roy!

(oh and the planter.....pics coming soon!)

Michelle, I love the "belly boy" ;) I have one of those! What a great gift! My kids would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have one. I cannot stomach the thought of sand. Or cat poop. And before anyone says it, we'd never ever get it covered!

too funny Carriejoy- I just commented about keeping it covered over on the boards! We do keep ours covered (almost always), but it is my dd6's job to do so. I told her if she left it uncovered and a cat did its job in there, the sandbox would be GONE. She covers it ;). The thing I had to get used to, especially when she has a friend over is getting the sand out of her hair. She wears flip flops most of the time in the yard, and takes them off at the door, so we have not had much sand come in from her shoes. She also has only a few pairs of shorts that have pockets or other sand catchers, so that has helped too.
Anyway- I hope these cuties get a lot of use out of their sandbox!!

Wow, you really do. That is so sweet that he made the planter and the sandbox for free. Most people these days would've charged an arm and a leg. My kids love to play in the dirt and I can see your two do as well. Hopefully you have many sandy days ahead of ya'll.
