Saturday we took a trip to the cornfield maze. We had such a fun time. The weather has turned cool here and it was only in the high 50's, but the day turned out beautiful. A perfect day to spend in the cornfield maze. It actually got warm enough that the boys took off their sweatshirts. Each year this particular cornfield maze has different things for you to find. I don't know if it is that way with all mazes since this is the only place we have attended a maze.
This years theme was of course CORN! We were given a sheet with a Corn Maize Scramble on it. There were 10 mail boxes numbered one through ten were scattered throughout the maze. Once we found a mail box there was a scrambled word. On our sheet was a clue for each word for us to try to figure out. Justin figured out just about every one, pretty easily! It took us about an hour and a half to find all the words and figure them out!

The first thing we saw upon walking up to the maze were the cows. Kaden love them and we were very close. Everyone was just lazing around enjoying an nice autumn afternoon.
All of a sudden they all get up and start leaving! The boys wondered where they were going? Milking time!
Onto the maze. Here are some corn facts we learned.
Farmers grow corn on every continent except Antarctica
One bushel of corn will sweeten more than 400 cans of Coca-Cola
There are about 800 kernels in 16 rows on each ear of corn
The main ingredient in mos dry pet food is corn
Corn is America's #1 field crop. Corn leads all other crops in value and volume of production
Corn is used to produce fuel alcohol. Fuel alcohol makes gasoline burn cleaner, reducing air pollution and it doesn't pollute the water. Below are a few of the scrambled words can you guess them?
(answers are at the bottom of this post)

Searching for more mailboxes! Which way should we go next?
found one!

hiding in the corn!
After the corn maze we decided to explore the farm a bit. This is a working farm with areas for the public to walk around. There is also a playground area.
Kaden loves birds of all kinds and tries to catch them. He is never successful and this chicken was not going to oblige him! The chase is on!
Hey I recognize those two farm kids!
The pussy cat and the cow
They have a small petting area and of course I wouldn't miss a picture of these sweeties
This little baby was so cute. He was so tiny. He did let Kaden pet him. The funny part was he kept running around his pen bucking~just like a bucking bronco! Too cute!
How can we forget the goose! Kaden kept calling here goose, here goose! He thinks since watching the movie Fly Away Home that all geese are friendly and will listen to him.
Oh and we had to sit on the cool cow painted tractor!
Look out here I come!
They have a store that was full of all sorts of scary and creepy things. Kaden would you please stop poking the skeleton in the eye! Ouch!
One final picture...I just love the starkness of this tree and the beautiful sky above.....winter won't be long away! answers: tractor, scarecrow, ketchup, gasoline

What fun! I have never been to our local corn maze, but Shannon is going to take the boys Saturday night. (It's haunted on Friday and Saturday nights.) With my bad back though, I'm afraid I won't be walking through a dark, haunted cornfield.;)
I love that Kaden thought the goose would listen to him like in the movie..That is so sweet.:)
I'm glad you and all three of your boys had so much fun!
I love the fall!
God Bless,
Amy:)
Great post, Michele. What a fun day. Your boys are just too cute.
Now THAT is what I call a corn maze!! Fantastic!
Those pictures make me want to go to the one near us. It looks like a lot of fun. I love the pictures of the cows! You could send your kids over here, my son would help them catch some chickens.
