Monday we went with our homeschool group to historic Philadelphia. It was just a beautiful fall day! We couldn't have asked for better. Larry took off and went with us. We visited Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell and Benjamin Franklin's grave. We also toured a small underground museum about Benjamin Franklin and the US Mint. Just outside of the museum was Franklin Court where his home once stood. There is also a working colonial post office. This is the only US post office that does not fly the US flag out front. Because in colonial times there was no US flag. In 1775 Benjamin Franklin was appointed postmaster general. Benjamin Franklin was truly a great man and entrepreneur

The Bourse Building. This building houses a food court where we had lunch
Benjamin Franklin's Grave
Home of the underground Ben Franklin museum. This is located next to where his home used to stand.
Some of Ben Franklin's possesions.
This is a library chair. The steps fold down to form a seat. How clever is that?
This came all the way from France. It is a carrier that a person sits in. It's proper name escapes me right now. Ben had it shipped to the US when he returned from France.
This was my favorite! Don't you just love this French chair?

There was a section in the museum that had about 20 telephones. You could actually dial a number and listen to a recorded message of many famous people. Justin is listening to his favorite President. Harry S. Truman

The Post office where Ben Franklin was Postmaster General. It is still a working post office.
Justin's favorite part of the day. Walking down Market street to see the high rises. This is really all he wanted to do all day! He loves skylines and to get to walk thru what he sees on tv all the time was very exciting for him! The Famous PSFS building

We could see Liberty Plaza. Justin wanted to walk all the way there, but it had been such a long day. We settled for this close up photo.
The Hard Rock Cafe. We loved seeing this huge guitar above the entry way.
In front of the US Mint
It was interesting seeing the older and the newer architecture mixed throughout the city. This very skinny home sat amidst all those tall highrises.
