For the past few years our local library has hosted the Turtlesinger Karen Buckley and her husband Charlie the "turtletoter". Karen has a love of turtles. Karen writes and performs all of her own music. They have a wonderful program and educate people on turtles. The show lasts an hour. They bring their four turtles, Rocky, Gracie, Big Black Bart and Spike. There are children chosen to help feed the turtles and Charlie brings the turtles out into the audience for an up close view while Karen sings her wonderful, fun turtle songs! It really is a wonderful program. At the end of the program there is a turtle race with three of the four turtles. The kids get very excited and cheer on their favorite turtle!
After the program everyone was invited out into the children's garden for turtle walking. Anyone who wanted to could walk a turtle!
If you live in the NJ area and you get a chance to see the Turtlesinger please go! It is worth your time!
My boys loved the show! Here are some pictures:
The Buckley's holding Gracie
Spike
Gracie being fed a blueberry. Turtles swallow their food whole and can eat something much larger than their throat, like a snake does. One of the turtles at a very large hibiscus flower!

The famous turtle race! Of course both of the male turtles, Bart on the left and Rocky on the right are more interested in Gracie in the middle!

A little turtle walking! Bart walking under the human tunnel! That is just in the navy blue shirt.
Justin walking Bart
Getting a close up view of Rocky and Gracie
Checking out Spike the snapping turtle! Justin actually got to walk all three of the other turtles. It was sure a fun day!
